Joe here. I know that cybersecurity and artificial intelligence are taking over your newsfeed, so today, I wanted to send over anything you may have missed while reading about ChatGPT. This is the “ICYMI” (in case you missed it) edition of Market Insights, a curation of things I have been reading, watching and digesting in relation to gov tech this past month, just in case you may have missed them. 5 Points You May Have Missed from Deloitte’s “The Digital Citizen” Survey

Deloitte conducted a survey of how people in the United States and other regions of the world perceive government digital services, and some of the key findings were quite surprising. Below are a few highlights from the United States survey that I found interesting.

1. Only 23 percent of U.S. respondents regularly (always/often) interact with government through digital channels. There is still a lot of work to do to help governments boost adoption of technology to grow the number of citizens who engage with government online.
2. Fifty percent of respondents for local/city like to interact with government through a website, and 28 percent prefer face-to-face interactions with government (that’s higher than I would have thought!).

3. The biggest challenges while accessing digital government services were user experience, privacy, and security (all of which are solvable from your solutions).
4. Respondents satisfied with an agency’s digital services also tend to rate the agency as being highly trustworthy in protecting their personal data. Better customer experience = more trust in government.
5. There is a lot more work to do when it comes to the digital divide and digital equity. COVID-19 highlighted how unprepared governments were to bridge this divide when the shift to online services made things easy for some people, and more difficult for others.
